First off congratulations!! I am so excited for you both. This is such an exciting time in both your lives. Wether you are parents already or if this will be your first baby this one of life’s most precious moments and you should have pictures to celebrate. If you’re here you might be considering doing a pregnancy announcement shoot and what to bring to make it special and personalized to the both of you. Bringing props to your announcement photoshoot really makes it more fun and more about the both of you. Below I have some ideas of what you could bring to make it all about the both of you and your newborn baby to come. Being a maternity photographer, I have seen loads of couples bring different unique things to make it more personialized towards them.
Your sonogram
Most of my announcement sessions people bring their sonogram. However, you would be surprised that some couples day of their session forget. Bringing your sonogram to the announcement session seems like a no brainer. BUT! I have had couples that forget or don’t think about it. PLEASE do not be that couple that forgets. I feel like bringing your sonogram is so sentimental and gives you such cute photos. Hot tip 🌶️: make sure it is not upside down in the pictures, cause I have scrolled down my timeline on Instagram and noticed that in someones maternity session the sonogram was upside down and that is so embarrassing.
First item you purchased
Something that I always recommend to my couples is bring to their announcement session is the first item you bought for your baby. For instance, my couple shown above they brought their first baby book. Bringing something like this makes it so that when you look back you can remember your first purchase for your baby boy or girl and that special moment where it was real. I was taking photos for another couple in Fayetteville North Carolina and they brought the first onesie they purchased.
Mom and Dad items
Another item you could bring is something that says mom and dad. I know its obvious you guys are the mom and dad just based on you getting the announcement session done, BUT having shirts, hats or slippers are such a cute fun photo prop.
This was just some ideas to give you to make your announcement session a bit more personable. I recommend everyone doing an announcement session even if it is not your first baby. Just a fun session to celebrate your new little one and then you can share with friends and family. I love when my couples post their photos to surprise their friends and family.
